Drew & Ashley
October 4th, 2020
Glacier National Park
Drew and Ashley had a good old fashioned wedding planned with a honey moon in Maui to follow. They had dreams of being surrounded by friends and family as they exchanged their vows. As many couples experienced in 2020, all of that changed in a blink of an eye thanks to COVID.
The two decided to tie the knot at City Hall in Missoula and were greeted by their parents as they left the building. Not quite what they had envisioned but they were married and in the end that was the most important part!
Maui was called off. They decided on the next best thing, a honeymoon in Glacier National Park at Lake McDonald Lodge. The date was set for mid- September for the two of them to do an Adventure Session in Glacier National Park with me as the photographer, I was really excited to finally meet Drew and Ashley. What more could possibly interfere?
September 17th was approaching and two days before we were set to meet, I received a call from Ashley that they had cut their honeymoon short, their dog was sick. I was heart broken for the two of them. One because they had to end their honeymoon early and two, and more importantly, because their baby was not well. Being a complete dog fanatic myself, I could empathize with their pain. We called off the shoot.
A few weeks later I dropped Ashley a text to see how everything was going. It's hard for me to even write these words, but their dog had passed away just days before. They were heart broken. I was crushed for them. If you have ever loved a dog, you know the pain they were feeling. They asked if we could meet ASAP and do the shoot.....anything to get their mind off the loss of their dog.
We met a few days later at Lake McDonald Lodge and the two of them freed their minds for a few hours and created some much deserved magical memories.
We were greeted with the most dramatic dreamy weather, take a look:
The adventures began with waterfalls, waterfalls and more waters!
The clouds started to lift, the rain slowly stopped and the sun began to shine. Although we all loved the dreamy moody weather Glacier first greeted us with, we welcomed the sun with open arms! We headed to Lake McDonald Lodge to explore and take in some of the breathtaking views.
When Ashley and I first started talking, she told me Drew was not comfortable in front of the camera. I would beg to differ! By the end of the end of the session, he was a pro, a real natural! Our last stop was at Belton Bridge. We captured some really romantic moments and oh so beautiful images!
Although the day they had envisioned never transpired, these two stayed positive throughout and in the end Glacier National Park certainly provided some spectacular views and together we created amazing memories that will last a lifetime!
CONGRATULATIONS DREW AND ASHLEY
May your life together be filled with love, happiness and plenty of adventure......
which won't be hard with the news of a little baby girl coming soon!
